Mediation
Mediation can be between neighbours, family members, business or coworkers, roommates, community or faith groups. Working with mediators, communicating through conflict, and creating agreements can be one of the most healing and life-changing events a relationship can experience. The mediation process allows people to be heard and express their core values and feelings about the conflict. It often uncovers the core needs and empowers the parties to find solutions that meet their needs.
Mediation is a confidential and voluntary process that allows the parties to make their own decisions. The Mediator is a trained neutral third-party who assists the parties to negotiate their own agreement. The Mediator’s role is to facilitate honest and open communication between individuals and assist them in finding, exploring and defining a voluntary resolution of their issues. The mediator is neutral and unbiased and does not provide legal advice. The Parties are responsible to have a free and honest conversation with the other person, to be clear about their concerns and needs, and to be open to listen to the other person’s concerns and needs. The Goal is to work together to come up with solutions that both parties agree on.
